Is Your Money Blocked Because You Don't Have Healthy Boundaries

How your money mindset, self-worth and emotional boundaries influence financial abundance.

Many people come to me believing that money is the biggest problem in their life. They want to know how to attract financial abundance, improve their money mindset or remove the money blocks that seem to keep repeating despite all their hard work. But over the years, I have realised that money is rarely the real issue. Very often, the relationship we have with money quietly reflects the relationship we have with ourselves. It reflects our self-worth, our emotional boundaries and how much of our time and energy we continue giving away. This is one such story that beautifully reminded me that sometimes financial abundance does not begin with earning more. Sometimes it begins with learning to protect your energy.

Can Poor Boundaries Become Hidden Money Blocks?

This is the story of a wonderful woman, a divorcee and mother of two, who had experienced both a difficult marriage and a difficult childhood. When she first came to me for coaching, money was the biggest problem in her life. At least, that is what she believed. She thought that if she could simply earn more, all the struggles in her life would disappear. But as I listened to her story, I realised that money was only the superficial issue. Beneath it were much deeper emotional wounds that had quietly shaped every decision she made.

Her inner voice was incredibly loud. It constantly reminded her about her past and kept her living from a place of fear rather than possibility. It was the kind of voice that followed her into the kitchen while she was cooking, sat beside her when she was trying to sleep and quietly whispered, “How are you going to manage next month?”

She was divorced, raising two children on her own and had very little financial support to fall back on. Until her divorce, earning an income had never been the centre of her life. Suddenly, life demanded a completely different version of her. She searched for work, found a job and slowly began supporting herself in an expensive city like Bangalore. From the outside, everything looked like progress. She had a job, she had an income and she was trying her very best. Yet the money was never enough. Every month felt like a race between what entered her bank account and what immediately had to leave. Somehow, money always seemed to move faster than she could hold onto it.

Is Your Relationship With Money Really About Money?

She came to me purely wanting to heal her money struggles. Like many people who begin searching for ways to improve their money mindset or attract financial abundance, she naturally wanted our coaching conversations to revolve around money. She wanted to understand how to manifest better opportunities, create financial stability and finally experience peace around money.

But as I continued listening to her, I realised something very interesting. Her relationship with money was not the only relationship that needed healing. We needed to look at her relationship with boundaries.

She was constantly giving. Giving her time, giving her emotional energy, giving money and giving herself to everyone around her. She always said yes when she desperately wanted to say no. She carried responsibilities that were never truly hers and felt guilty every single time she chose herself. Somewhere in her life, she had learnt that being a good woman meant always being available, always adjusting, always compromising and always putting everybody else’s needs before her own.

That was the moment our money coaching took a completely different direction.

I told her something that made her pause.

“Money needs a place to stay.”

We often speak about attracting abundance, but we rarely ask ourselves whether our life actually has the capacity to hold it. When our energy is constantly leaking through poor boundaries, people pleasing, guilt and overgiving, we may continue earning while still feeling financially unsafe. We may receive opportunities but immediately give away our time for free. We may know our worth but hesitate to ask for what we truly deserve.

Boundaries are not walls. They are energetic containers. They tell your time where to go. They tell your energy what deserves access to you. Sometimes they even teach money how you expect to be treated.

What Changed When She Started Respecting Her Own Energy?

Slowly, we began working on the small places where she was abandoning herself every day. She started noticing every unnecessary yes she said. She questioned the guilt that appeared whenever she prioritised her own needs. Together we discussed the difference between needs and wants. She began recognising where she underestimated her own skills and where fear stopped her from asking for better opportunities.

Nothing changed overnight. There was no dramatic money manifestation ritual where she suddenly woke up with lakhs in her bank account. What changed was much quieter and, in my opinion, far more powerful.

She started respecting her own energy.

When her relationship with her energy changed, her relationship with money slowly began changing too. She became more conscious about her choices, more open to opportunities and much less apologetic about wanting financial security. She stopped believing that sacrificing herself was the only way to be loved or accepted.

That experience reminded me why energy healing and mindset coaching around money cannot simply be about affirmations. Sometimes our biggest money block is hidden inside the places where we have no boundaries. Sometimes financial abundance begins with a simple no. Sometimes welcoming money into our lives begins with deciding that our time, energy and skills have value.

She came to me believing she needed to learn how to earn more money. Perhaps what she truly needed was permission to stop giving herself away.

That is also the question I want to leave you with.

Are you really struggling to attract money, or is your energy too busy leaking into places that no longer deserve you?

Five Practical Changes That Can Welcome More Financial Abundance

Over the years, I have realised that attracting abundance is often less about doing more and more about becoming conscious of the small habits that quietly influence our relationship with money. Here are five practical changes you can begin with today.

Create a twenty four hour pause before every guilt based expense. If you are buying, lending, gifting or paying because guilt is driving your decision, pause for twenty four hours. Abundance never asks you to prove that you are a good person through your wallet.

Stop discussing money with people who make you shrink. Your income, pricing, dreams and financial decisions do not need a public committee. Protect your money goals from conversations that immediately plant fear, shame or doubt.

Give every rupee an energetic purpose. Instead of allowing money to sit in your account as one anxious lump, intentionally give it a purpose such as safety, growth, travel, home, joy or future. Money feels far less chaotic when you become clear about what it is meant to support.

Notice your free labour for one week. Observe every place where you freely give away your time, emotional energy, professional knowledge or skills without consciously choosing to. Not everything needs to be monetised, but everything should be consciously given.

Close one unfinished money conversation. Collect the pending payment, cancel the unused subscription, return the item you no longer need or finish the financial conversation you have been avoiding. Sometimes abundance is not waiting to enter your life. It is simply waiting for you to create space for it.

Final Thoughts

One of the greatest lessons this client taught me is that money is rarely only about money. More often, it reflects how we value ourselves, how we honour our own energy and whether we believe we deserve to receive without guilt.

Healing our relationship with money begins by healing our relationship with ourselves. When we begin protecting our time, creating healthy emotional boundaries and respecting our own energy, financial abundance often follows in ways we never expected.

Perhaps your biggest money block is not your income at all.

Perhaps it is simply the places where you continue giving yourself away.
